Understanding Wait Times in Polling Places

The sight of voters waiting in long lines to cast their ballots in the 2012 election prompted President Obama to launch his bipartisan Presidential Commission on Election Administration.  One consequence of the Commission’s work has been a four-year-long effort uniting election officials and researchers to identify where problems exist in accommodating all voters who wish to exercise the franchise. Join a discussion of how a mix of web-based technologies and low-tech solutions helped diminish the problem of long lines in 2016 — and how new efforts to harness technology might improve the experience of voters even further in 2020.
